Not affiliated with WaMu, or JPMorgan Chase, not an organization, just a burned shareholder seeking compensation.

These are some images that have proved helpful in understanding what happened to WaMu. All images retain their original copyright status and are presented here in accordance with Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, "allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."

the top five bankruptcies in US history. Was it the smartest route to take to have a WorldCom, a General Motors and two Enrons, piled onto a Lehman Bros and a systemic money market run? Sounds a bit irrational and reckless.

19. insidertrading,
after hours trading screen shot minutes after the regular market close of WaMu on September 25, 2008, showing three huge block trades totaling over 12.74 million shares going through, all at the same price. It is a bit suspicious someone would dump this many shares, this fast, as soon as the market closed. Considering the events that followed, it seems likely someone was tipped off and prepared to sell just after the close, so that it would not show-up in the day end regular market reporting.

20. top10subprmlndrs2006,
The top subprime lenders for 2006. Collectively they are 58.8% of subprime lending. Of this share WaMu was 10%. Sometimes people try to make WaMu out as the major subprime lender, when in reality it was a typical subprime lender, being 5.8% of the market. Subprime was 10% of WaMu's business.

21. liquidityhoarding,
The Federal Reserve says the financial crisis hit a third phase (the collapse) when the seizure of WaMu set off a rush of liquidity hoarding with the European Central Bank (ECB). "The amounts deposited with the ECB rise from a daily average of 0.09 billion euros in the week starting September 1, 2008 to a daily average of 169.41 billion in the week of September 29, 2008. Some of the major developments of the fnancial crisis are also indicated in Figure 2 (at left). The amounts deposited with the ECB start rising after the collapse of Washington Mutual when the crisis spreads outside the investment banking realm."
